When someone in Jaipur searches "packers and movers near me" or "best salon in Vaishali Nagar", Google shows a map with three businesses before any website. Those businesses get most of the calls. Your free Google Business Profile decides whether you are one of them.
Here is how to set it up properly.
Step 1: Create or claim your profile
Go to business.google.com and sign in with the Google account you want to manage the business with. Search for your business name. If it already appears, claim it. If not, add it as a new business.
Use your exact business name, the way it appears on your shop board. Do not add extra keywords like "Best Packaging Jaipur Cheap" to the name. Google can suspend profiles for that.
Step 2: Choose the right category
The primary category is one of the most important settings. Pick the one that matches your main business, for example "Packaging supply store", "Website designer" or "Beauty salon". You can add a few secondary categories for other services.
Step 3: Add your address or service area
If customers visit you, add your full address and place the pin exactly on your shop. If you visit customers (like movers, electricians or home salons), set a service area instead, such as Jaipur and nearby towns.
Step 4: Verify the profile
Google will ask you to verify that the business is real. This can be a video recording of your shop and signboard, a phone call, or a postcard. Your profile only shows on Maps after verification, so do this first.
Step 5: Fill in every detail
Complete profiles rank better and get more calls. Add:
- Phone number and WhatsApp-friendly number
- Website link
- Opening hours, including holiday hours
- Services or products with short descriptions and prices if you can
- A clear business description in simple words
Step 6: Add real photos
Upload photos of your shop front, inside the shop, your team, your products and your work. Real photos build trust much more than stock images. Add new photos every month.
Step 7: Get reviews, and reply to all of them
Reviews are a big ranking factor. After a good job, send customers your review link on WhatsApp and ask them to share honest feedback. Reply to every review, including negative ones, politely and with a solution. Never buy fake reviews; Google removes them and can penalise your profile.
Step 8: Post updates
Use Posts to share offers, new products and recent work once a week. It shows Google and customers that your business is active.
Link your profile with your website
Your Google profile and your website should support each other: the same name, address and phone number on both, your website link on the profile, and a map on your website's contact page.
